Recently I was writing some unit tests in c# but when I tried to run them, nothing happened.
This had me stumped for quite some time. I did all the usual things like check the processor architecture was correct and the test project and the project it was referencing were targeting the same platform but couldn’t figure out what was wrong.
Then, after some time spent googling around I stumbled across the most simplest solution: update NuGet packages.
After updating these two packages everything started working like an employee when the boss walks in.
Every year in South Africa you need to renew your car license. This involves standing in a long queue with a proof of address and your identity document (ID). Once you get to the counter you are normally greeted by a human who is more miserable than a rainy winters day and has the sense of humour of a stick. The attendant takes your ID and looks up your details and prints you a nice new license paper. This only happens once you hand over an unhealthy amount of money
But for me this was not the case. I had recently moved house and therefore required an updated proof of address. So I went back and printed out an invoice, took it back to the lady with a huge smile just to be told that they only accept bank statements and lease agreements. This had me worried because the license was going to expire in a few days and I didn’t think I would be able to get the proof of address in time.
I sent the same invoice and a copy of my ID to the bank so they could update their system. There was multiple emails back and forth trying to achieve this. Errors included my full name not present on the invoice to the invoice not being a “verified copy”. Now to me an original invoice outdoes a “verified copy” I kept telling them
I am trying to tell you where I live so that you can come find me when I don’t make my payments
Eventually I went into the bank with the same invoice and updated my details, got my proof of address and went straight to the traffic department to claim the fruits of all my hard work. But again another speed bump. I had to fill in the tedious “green form”. The green form is basically writing down all the details they have in the system on a piece of paper. This makes no sense to me and is killing our trees.
After reluctantly completing the green form I got my license. I was so happy I went home and celebrated with a beer. Later I thought It was such a tedious process. I always thought that if I wanted someones money I would make it easy for them to give it to me.
